it’s called foreplay for a reason…so play!
In my work with couples, playfulness and sensual rituals are no luxury. They are actually most of the times the things that are missing in longterm relationships. When couples only focus on ‘fixing their problems’ so intimacy can finally happen, I can tell you now: it ain’t gonna work babes.
Intimacy asks of you to create intentional moments where there’s room for play and enjoyment. And in the beginning of every relationship and connection, that is something that comes naturally and flows naturally as there is still a lot of newness to explore in each other. But the longer you are together, the more newness trades places with stability and safety. Plus in most longterm relationships routine takes over and if you aren’t careful, intimacy fades into the background…
So in my sessions and workshops I intentionally create practices that infuse these elements so couples can feel intimate and playful. I help them explore sensuality and intimacy through touch, scents, sight, music and…taste. And to explore taste I let them indulge in something I like to call: Sensual Eating. A practice where they feed each other and explore eroticism and playfulness through fruits and chocolates.
During the first Lovers’ Soirée to accommodate this tasteful element, the Oh Collective generously gifted their Date Night Chocolates in my goodiebags for the couples. These aphrodisiac-infused chcolates are a reminder that playing with each other is so important in your intimate life and exactly the reason I collaborated with this sexual wellness store.
The Date Night Chocolates are created from pure dark chocolate, Maca, Panax ginseng and Damiana— all ingrediënts that are seen as stimulating people’s drive for sex. To make it a bit more spicy they also added strawberry popping candy, so it creates a very tantilizing sensation on the tongue.
What I like the most, and the reason I wanted to gift these chocolates to my couples at Lovers’ Soirée is that the chocolates aren’t coming on their own: with every package there’s also a Truth or Dare play card attached with 1 truth and 1 dare, a QR code to scan for their Love Playlist ánd instructions how to create a sensual and intimate night with all these elements. So they truly guide you into creating intimacy intentionally with your lover/partner and that I absolutely love and what aligns with the work I do as an intimacy and sensuality coach.
These may seem like small gestures — a piece of chocolate, a playful question, a curated playlist — but trust me, they can open the door to big shifts in your relationship. When couples give themselves permission to play, flirt and slow down…something softens and opens up. And often, that is where real intimacy begins (again).
It’s exactly why I believe in working with sensual rituals: they don’t just stimulate the body, they spark the imagination and help you see each other with fresh eyes again.
So if you’ve been stuck in routines or craving more connection, consider turning your next evening into a playful, sensual night together. Let the Date Night Chocolates melt slowly, answer the question on the card, dare each other— and most importantly: allow yourselves to enjoy.
Because intimacy isn’t just something you fix— it’s something you create. And it’s called foreplay for a reason… so keep playing ;)
